Patterned after Megan’s Law, the National Online Database of Convicted Domestic Violence Abusers allows women and men to find out if a person they are (or wish to become) involved with has been abusive in past relationships. The database was developed by Ms. Myra Spearman, victims’ advocate and Executive Director of The Weaker Vessel, Inc. (www.theweakervessel.org). Without any federal or state support or funding, Ms. Spearman—herself a survivor of domestic violence and stalking—is obtaining the names and criminal records of convicted abusers and inputting this information into the database name by name, state by state. Ms. Spearman is currently paying the costs of obtaining these records, which can be in the hundreds of dollars per record, out of her own pocket.

To help cover the costs of obtaining more records from more states, funding is desperately needed. Any donations will enable this critically important database to become complete and comprehensive—helping to prevent domestic violence and save lives. Click here to make a donation today.
