Dear Education Committee Members, I am writing as a constituent to encourage you to support and sponsor The Jessica Tush Act, Bill A04596 / S708, which will mandate that a Dating Violence Curriculum and Respect/ Self Esteem Program be taught in all New York Schools. With an ever-increasing number of victims of Dating Violence and Bullying, I feel that this life saving bill should be a high priority for passage in the upcoming legislative session. Far too many children have already died and more will die without our intervention to stop this growing epidemic. We have a responsibility to start educating our children to respect themselves and others, and thereby prepare them to understand what abuse is, what is appropriate dating behavior, how to handle rejection, overcome it and strive for a better future, and teach them about available resources if they need them. We need to impress upon students that physical or emotional abuse is unacceptable behavior and it will not be tolerated in our classrooms, in our schools and in our society. I ask you to sponsor this important piece of legislation which will make such a difference in the lives of the constituents you serve. I also would appreciate receiving notification of what action you take on this matter. Sincerely,

Dear Corrections Committee Members, I am writing as a constituent to encourage you to support and sponsor The Danielle DiMedici and Jessica Tush Law Bill A5396 / S7720, which creates a registry for domestic violence offenders; defines domestic abuse offender; and allows the discretion of the court to place an offender on the registry. With an ever-increasing number of victims of Domestic Violence, I feel that this life saving bill should be a high priority for passage in the upcoming legislative session. Far too many women are being murdered by dangerous domestic violence offenders, and far too many families are being destroyed. At the high cost of post-offense aid given, we need to stop violence before it happens. Just like “Megan’s Law”, this life saving registry will be a warning site, so everyone can be aware of potentially dangerous partners and avoid the danger of victimization. I ask you to sponsor this important piece of legislation, which will make such a difference in the lives of the constituents you serve. I also would appreciate receiving notification of what action you take on this matter. Please bookmark this page. Our new URL is www.domesticviolencedatabase.org. The intent of this website is to contribute to the prevention of domestic violence of women, men and children across the United States. The records contained within this database are derived from actual court documents. All records are a matter of public record. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: There are many persons who share like or similar names. In order to avoid misinterpretation of any public record, a concerned party should request a copy of the case file from the courts which will provide more identifying information. All criminal conviction records including orders of protection are public records which are compiled by the courts in each county, state by state. Contact the county's court house directly to verify all information. The information on the Registry refers only to violent offenses and may not reflect the entire criminal history of a particular individual. A complete public record of criminal history can be obtained from any State Police Bureau of Identification. Additionally, a person not appearing in this database does not preclude them from being a domestic violence offender. Although we try to make our information accurate and useful, you should consult a lawyer to interpret and apply this information to your particular situation. Information is not the same as legal advice – the application of information to an individual’s specific circumstances. This site does not provide legal services nor legal advice. We are not lawyers and we do not take any responsibility for rashes, financial ruin, or anything else that follows from applying this information. Information compiled on this Registry may not be used to harass or threaten offenders or their families. Harassment, stalking or threats may violate criminal laws. If your conviction has been expunged or overturned on appeal, please use the Contact Form to inform us of this change.
