Shannon Fox, 32-year-old art teacher at Northeastern High School, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, has been indicted for engaging in an illicit relationship with a student.
Fox faces three counts of sexual activity with a student by a teacher. The alleged illicit relationship between female teacher and student was originally brought to police attention in May.
Fox turned herself in Monday following the indictments. The age and the gender of Fox’s alleged victim were not immediately released.
Shannon Fox is not the first female from North Carolina who has got in troubes with law for underage sex. Kari Maria Hogue, 34-year-old teacher's aide at Aldermen Road Elementary School, Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy. She is charged with three counts of first degree sex offense, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and two counts of crimes against nature. And Donna Craig Stewart, 48-year-old woman from Newton, North Carolina, was convicted of two counts of first degree rape of a child.
